Recent Activities
The main activities of the department in formulating and implementing the annual plan have been able to increase the production of rice, wheat, maize and potatoes in the Faridpur region in the last three years through the transfer of technology according to the needs of the farmers in order to meet the food and nutrition needs of the growing population from the decreasing cultivable land. Along with that, producing jute has been playing an important role in the economy of Bangladesh. In the last three years through strengthening of extension activities rice production has increased to 67960 MT, wheat production to 2325 MT, pulses to 3412 MT, oil crop production to 4967 MT and jute production to 18244 MT.To achieve self-sufficiency in foodgrains through farmer training, field days, rallies, agricultural fairs, farmer motivational tours, seminars and workshops on modern and drought-tolerant varieties of various crops, water-saving technologies, balanced use of fertilizers, parching, modern farming, quality Success has been achieved in the expansion of technology for seed production and storage, advanced agricultural machinery, production and use of organic and green manures for protecting soil health. Activities to increase production and productivity of crops are ongoing through exhibitions set up under revenue and various schemes, improved varieties and technologies, modern farming exhibitions etc. In the future, this productivity enhancement program will continue in Kalkini Upazila.
